Denial eSports win the Call of Duty Championship 2015

After months of qualifying and a weekend of intense action and surprises, the winner of the Call of Duty Championship 2015 is…

Denial eSports! Denial beat Revenge in the grand final 3-2 following a hard fought series. For the first map, the two teams faced off in Hardpoint on Detroit with Denial coming out victorious with a 250-123 win, in part thanks to an 11 killstreak from Clayster. With this event beginning the first to feature DLC maps, the second map was Search and Destroy on Drift where Revenge took a convincing 6-0 victory. Uplink on Comeback was a more even contest, with Revenge coming out as 12-8 winners. With Capture the Flag on Bio Lab, Denial were able to tie the series after emerging as 5-2 victors. Search and Destroy on Riot was the setting for the final and decisive map where Denial’s 6-4 victory crowned them as World Champions.

Earlier in the day, Denial beat Revenge 3-2 in the Upper Bracket final. With a chance to still make the final, Revenge faced FaZe Red in the Lower Bracket final to win 3-2 and set up a re-match with Denial. Both Bracket Finals were extremely close and intense affairs, with the Uplink matches in particular providing high-quality entertainment with plenty of surprises and skills on show. Having earned their right to compete in the Championship Final, Revenge weren’t able to enact their revenge on Denial and had to settle for second place.

The Call of Duty Championship 2015 saw 32 teams battling to be crowned Call of Duty World Champions and to receive a large sum of the $1 million prize pool. The weekend saw plenty of shock results, particularly with big names like OpTic Gaming and Team EnVyus being sent to the Lower Brackets for the first round, meaning that many of the tournament’s previous winners wouldn’t even come in the top 8. All of the final eight players to play in the final hadn’t previously won a Call of Duty World Championship. The Call of Duty Championship is expected to return in 2016 where the next Call of Duty from Treyarch will be taking the stage.

On top of the eSports action, Activision also revealed exclusive new gameplay of the upcoming Ascendance DLC maps as well as the world premiere of the Exo Zombies ‘Infection’ trailer.

Head down below to see the final standings for the 32 entrants, as well links to related article’s we’ve put out this weekend.
