Rumour: Remastered Gears of War coming to Xbox One, according to Polygon

Rumours of previous Gears of War titles making their way to Xbox One have surfaced for a while now, but a latest rumour from Polygon suggests that a remastered version of the first title is definitely in the works.

‘Sources’ have told Polygon that Black Tusk Studios are developing a remastered version of Gears of War 1, which was first released for Xbox 360 back in 2006. The remaster is said to include updated visuals and reworked cutscenes made by animation studio Plastic Wax. Studio head, Rod Fergusson, denied rumours of a ‘Marcus Fenix Collection’ last month but confirmed that the developer is working on other Gears of War projects and that he’ll be at E3 (it remains to be seen whether the series will be in attendance also).

Microsoft purchased the rights for the series at the beginning of last year, paving the way for new development studio Black Tusk to begin work on a new entry. With the series’ 10-year anniversary landing next year, 2016 may be the perfect occasion to welcome a remaster, although Polygon mentioned no dates.
