Wolfenstein: The New Order prequel titled ‘The Old Blood’ coming in May

Following the critical acclaim of last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order, Betheasda have announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a prequel which will continue the Wolfenstein adventure as a standalone purchase instead of DLC for 2014’s title.

Set in 1946, players will again take on the role of B.J. Blakowicz as he embarks on a two-part mission in Bavaria. The first part of the mission will involve taking on a maniacal prison warden while breaking into Castle Wolfenstein, while the second part will focus on stopping a Nazi archaeologist from unleashing a dark and ancient power through mysterious artifacts.

Developed by MachineGames, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be released Tuesday, 5th May on PlayStation 4 and PC as a digital or retail copy, and on Xbox One as a digital-only copy. It will cost £14.99, €19.99 or AUS$39.95. More details and gameplay will be revealed during PAX East on Friday, 6th March and Saturday, 7th March at 3:30pm GMT (7:30am PST/10:30am EST) via Twitch.

Check out the official description, gameplay trailer and screenshots below.

Arriving digitally on May 5th for $19.99 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood takes our hero BJ Blazkowicz back to the year 1946 in an adventure that spans eight chapters and two interconnected stories (released together) that will lead into the events you know and love from The New Order.

Part one of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood – Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves — pits BJ Blazkowicz against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. In part two – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – our hero’s search for the coordinates leads him to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.
