Max Payne 3 Video Review
I really like what Rockstar Games did with Max, they not only put you in a place of the future of his life but also covered the time in between. I felt connect with Max, like I was the one in his situation, I felt his anger, frustration, depression and will to make things ‘right’. I won’t spoil the story but its one that will keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting more. I like the flow of the game, I would be playing and all of a sudden I realized that I been playing longer then expected. Also a great thing they did was lack of loading between chapters (Keep in mind this might be because I installed the game on my 360). But I like how it seemed back to back like a true story. Honestly when I realized that I had completed some chapters I was impressed, first off didn’t feel like “long levels” and it just flowed so smoothly that i didn’t notice a break in the story that wasn’t filled.
This has to be one of the best single player’s I have played in a long time and what else do you expect from Rockstar Games?
Multiplayer is its own animal, much like the story you can get caught up quickly. From the customization to the fast pace in your face action, there’s something for everyone. The customization is one that everyone can get into, you can make a custom character for each gang, another thing is that future DLC’s might give you more options like the recent free guerrilla DLC that came out. What can a DLC bring to this multiplayer? Well this recent one gave you the gorilla mask (pictured below) this give players extra adrenaline when killing from behind. Next is the Lucky Coin which gives extra cash when looting bodies, and lastly is the Booby Trap which will rig the player’s corpse to explode when looted by another player. And I did mention this one was FREE right?
Of course some will have a price but that’s what the Rockstar Pass is for to get you all DLC’s covered. Now for those that like “clans”, Rockstar has added ‘crews’ to the game which give you that distinction and sense of belonging to a group. You can do wagers in matches, you can go crew vs crew, you can even transfer these crews to the future game GTA 5. Like I said there’s a lot here and with the addition of bullet time and the combinations of weapons you can use, there is something always making you say “whoa”.
So far this year I have to say this is the best game to come out this year, defiantly is in my consideration for Game of the Year, and with the known post release support from Rockstar Games, this game is something everyone should consider to keep you entertained all summer. From single player to multiplayer I believe Rockstar Games did it just right. They seem to really worked on the single player knowing they can fine tune multiplayer as they see fit and add maps and content through DLCs. If you don’t have this game you need to consider it. Max Payne 3 gets My Editors Choice Award.
